Well I'm just starting this blog to keep family updated on our new little family. So I guess I'll start with the birth of Jaden! I went in for my prenatal checkup on July 21st, 2011 at 9am. I was 37 weeks and 4 days. I had already been dilating and when my doctor checked me I was 5 cm and 90% effaced. My blood pressure had been on the high side the past couple of weeks and still was, so my doctor decided to induce me. We headed over to labor and delivery. When we got there they put us in our delivery room and when they checked me. I was 6 cm and 100% effaced. they started my iv and pitocin and about an hour later I was 7 cm and my doctor came in to break my water. I've heard that makes contractions worse, and it most definitely does! They started coming on strong. I originally wanted to do natural birth, knowing it would be painful, but not this much! I decided to go ahead and get an epidural and I was very happy with that decision! I was 8 cm before I got it and after when the nurse checked me I was 9cm. The pain went away and I was very comfortable. Jeremy was watching the monitor and every time a contraction would come up her would ask if I could feel it, and he was especially surprised when they started to get stronger. Before the epidural my blood pressure was still high, but after I got it, it started to return to normal. Not too long after I was finally 10 cm and Jaden was at -3 station so we waited a little bit for him to come down lower. Then it was time to push! I started pushing at around 2:30 pm. I pushed, and pushed...and pushed. Jeremy was coaching me while pushing and he did a great job with it. Finally around 5:40 the doctor came in and they got everything ready for the baby. Right before my last push, I threw up :( right on the nurse that had been helping me. and then after that I had one last push and at 5:58 pm on July 21st, 2011, Jaden was born. He weighed 6 lbs 14.6 oz and was 20 in. He had his cord wrapped around his neck and wasn't breathing when he arrived. They kept him in the room for a little while trying to get his breathing regulated. They brought him over to me about 15 minutes after I delivered him and let him lay on my chest. he still wasn't breathing right so they took him to a transition room in the NICU to put him on oxygen. My doctor had given me an episiotomy so he stitched me up and then delivered my placenta. After everyone had left the room I fell asleep because I was exhausted. Not too long after they moved me to my postpartum room but before we went the nurse took me to see Jaden. He had the tubes in his nose for they oxygen and a tube in his mouth to get any extra air out that was being pushed in. He was being a stubborn baby and his hand kept wandering by the tube in his mouth and taking it out so they had to tape it on his cheek. They took me to my room and about 6 hours after I had him, Jaden was brought into my room. His breathing was finally regulated and so he was able to be with me. We tried breastfeeding and he latched on just fine, but was too tired to eat. He didn't eat much at all while in the hospital, so we ended up giving him some formula on Saturday. We went home Saturday afternoon. He's now 1 month and 1 week old! It's amazing how time goes by so fast!
